What is Radon?​

Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless radioactive gas that forms during the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. Typically Radon escapes from the ground and dissipates harmlessly into the atmosphere. When this occurs there are no health concerns. Hazards to your health occur when the gas leaks into your home through the basement walls and floor. Your home can trap the gas and allow it to accumulate until it reaches a hazardous level. The EPA has established a safe level of radon and any levels above this require that the condition be mitigated.
